My thoughts on article about Men and their starring at women in public

Found this article. It explores if making the certain types of starring illegal in some places.  I thought it was an interesting piece, because yes, as a woman living on this planet, I can agree some of the starring and leering is over the top, and I feel like there are many reasons for this. Some of it is wiring, some of it is culture… anyway, check out this article on the subject. The article goes into the power dynamics and such, that may influence our (women’s) relationship with Men. https://www.centreformalepsychology.com/male-psychology-magazine-listings/the-toxic-male-gaze-should-men-staring-at-women-be-illegal Greetings! Vueltas Vueltas - Poema

I see my environment for a moment, Then it's gone It reappears again, the same as before But now it’s me that’s changed evermore Dizzy, intoxicated, love drunk Carousel of fantasies I bought my ticket with a million tiny stars dancing in my eyes See, I heard the laughter from a distance Now I notice the old horse I ride on with it’s chipped, crusted paint I wonder if there is something more It all repeats itself, just at different levels...

Child Performers

On a small scale, I was a child performer. It was for the church, and of course I don’t remember it well because I was disassociated the whole time. Just alone up there singing on a stage, not knowing what the hell I was truly singing about.  I was watching this youtuber speak on Ariana Grande and her life, the fact that she was a child performer and how sometimes kid performers don’t have the chance to create an identity of their own. The video talked about what that looks like when the kid grows up. The youtuber spoke about the fight, flight and freeze (fawn) reaction that traumatized people have. The speaker said that it seems like Ariana does a lot of fawning to cope and to relate to people. She can shape shift into whatever she needs to be to adapt and get along.  I will try to find the video I was watching to link it here…  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6j2Y3RTJ8s but yeah, it got me thinking. I truly think kids need to be able to grow up like kids to avoi...

Song stuck in my head this morning

This morning I had a small part of a song stuck in my head. I wanted to hear it so bad, but couldn’t remember the name of song or band. I sang what I could on the Shazam app it and I googled the lyrics that I could remember but got nothing. Somehow I found it by searching bands that have similar sounds and I found it! Here it is, the band is Muse and the song is called Supermassive Black Hole. The song sounds so dark and catchy to me, but I warn you the video is not sunsets, rainbows and ladybugs.  https://youtu.be/Xsp3_a-PMTw?si=8qnC3UJ7Fm01odrT I played it for my friend and he listened and watched the video for a bit. He said it sounded like a mix between Marilyn Manson and Prince. I agree! !  Greetings! Some thoughts on how I deal with living with PTSD:

First things is first: learn how to let yourself  feel your feelings.  Easier said than done for some. Some people were shamed so hard when they showed emotion, that they trained themselves to not feel what they feel. Sometimes I’d have people tell me that I don’t like something or tell me that I seem angry or sad, and I couldn’t recognize it myself for a while. Sometimes I could come up against a wall and come up blank and have to give up. A professional could help   With this, I would go with a licensed professional.  Get diagnosed  if you feel you have some of the symptoms or if you know you went through something that left you feeling not quite yourself.  Next thing I would say is:  your home life is everything.  Even if you can’t help the stress of work, you can try to build a space that is conducive to healing, a place where you can rest. Rest is tricky, because it’s hard to chill and take naps when alarms are blaring and it’s your...

Lately I’ve been enjoying this artist I found on Youtube:  https://youtu.be/M0hUR7cLgGo?si=Oto-KbfEYGX_7LWo Dianna Lopez @DiannaLopez333 (youtube) Sounds angelic and it is so very relaxing and inspiring.

Talk Therapy- yay? Nay?

Touchy subject, I suppose. In my opinion talk therapy with a licensed counselor is very helpful when navigating complex trauma, or just regular everyday feelings. I went through some tings’ as a kid - who hasn’t.. but it left me with some scrambled brains, tons of pain, confusion and fear. So I went to therapy. At first I thought it was just for a few weeks to deal with a recent loss I had. I quickly realized that I was frozen solid in a freeze response and that I was incoherent when trying to tell my story in chronological order or otherwise.  It has taken years, but I have to say that it’s helped. Having someone to be there to talk you off the ledge, or to even celebrate when you just survived a week.  If you are thinking about therapy, I would give it a shot. It is very nice to talk to someone that is not connected to you, doesn’t know your cast of characters, and is solely responsible for helping you keep course.  It is expensive, and it can be considered a privilege....

Mr. Tamborine Man

A couple of years ago I had to take the train (we call it BART here in the bay area) to get to work. I observed a busker playing guitar and singing. He had percussion instruments on his feet, like a mini tamborine and some other bells of sorts. He had a booming voice and he was very moving. He was clearly a professional. He played it all, Dylan, indie pop… He was tall, lanky with bright red hair, and leather boots. I proceeded to stalk him like a creep - sike! I did stop by from time to time to say hello and tip the jar. I then proceeded to make little envelopes for him with little fortunes from fortune cookies, I would add guitar picks, and cash.  I did the little gifts for a while, even though I KNOW I AM CRINGE. I was going through a lot and needed a harmless distraction and he didn’t mind. One day I told him that I sing too, and he invited me to sing with him. I thought that was so gracious ‘cause he didn’t even know if I could actually sing. Fast forward to now we ar...
